Play Reading 16th November

You are invited to a play reading Wednesday 16th November.  This is not an audition or necessarily a play we will be performing soon, but just for fun. Please bring along your friends! Time is 7.30, Kingsley community centre.

The play is “Nightmare” by Norman Robbins. The cast comprises 3 males (20, 35, 40), 3 females (24,36,71), with the usual flexibility on age.The following is a synopsis of the play/thriller:

Marion Bishop, an elderly writer, is dying. Katherine looks after her in a most caring way, while coping with her mentally retarded brother. When Katherine takes some leave, Laura, an experienced nurse comes to take care of Marion. A series of mysterious phone calls and the appearance of Raymond, Marion’s rapacious nephew, set off a nightmare situation. Deceit, suspicion, blackmail and incriminations  are subtly woven into a web of crime which is completed by a dramatic confrontation scene with an ingenious twist.
